What is Threads?

Threads of History is an annual event held at the our Heritage Park. This year's event is being held in conjunction with the Plover Portage Rendezvous (see "What is PPR", below). Threads of History is a group of individuals, artisans, and cottage industries demonstrating crafts as they may have been in the time period 1830's to 1850's.

Why Threads?

The purpose of Threads is to promote awareness of our history, and make it possible for the public to have a glimpse of our "living history" that they can participate in through dialog, purchasing authentic merchandise and tour Heritage Park.

What is PPR?

PPR stands for Plover Portage Rendezvous. A rendezvous was an annual gathering of fur trapper and traders (see "What the Heck's a Rendezvous?" for more information).  Today re-enactors or Buckskinners relive this event by setting up camp with their fellows, dressing the part, engage in period events, all in the interest of recapturing the flavor and history of the Fur Trade Era, 1760-1840.

  • Fur Trade Era re-enactors in an encampment.
  • Traders selling period items.
  • Tomahawk and Knife throwing competition.
  • Old Time Kid's Games.
  • Blacksmiths
