Historical Society Events

The society hosts several annual events. The Heritage Days and an annual Civil War Encampment. In addition the Rising Star Mill has its own events schedule.

The Society also holds an Annual Meeting open to the public and participates in several local events: Cultural Fest.

Heritage Days The new Heritage Days annual event, June 8-9, 2013, at Heritage Park will feature Portage County’s rich circus history this year. The Engford family will be featured in the Church Museum as well as the Engford Circus House. Ruthie Engford will have costumes on display and a few of Frank Clark's foot juggling items. Videos will be running at the Church Museum of the Engford Family Acts; Ruthie's "Estreleta" act before she joined Frank Clark to form "Francarro & Estreleta, America’s Premier Aerialists". Don't miss Ruthie and Franks wedding ceremony performed hanging under a helicopter! Other circus families will be featured such as the Franzen Brothers and the Barnsdales. Come and see the improvements made over the winter months! Food, beverages, books and souvenirs available for purchase.
