Historical Society Events

The society hosts several annual events. The Plover Portage Rendezvous/Thread of History held the third weekend in July, an annual Civil War Encampment, and the Fire Station #2 has begun an annual Arts Show. In addition the Rising Star Mill has its own events schedule.

The Society also holds an Annual Meeting open to the public and participates in several local events: Cultural Fest and is a co-sponsor of the annual Arctic Run Model Railroad Show held at the Stevens Point Ramada the 3rd weekend of January.

3 Ladies and Their Buddy
Sept. 4th, 10am to 3pm

An Art Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Historic Fire House, No 2, 1949 Strongs Ave, Stevens Point, WI. The show features work of four local artists. A portion of the proceeds from art sales goes towards the upkeep and maintenance of this building. Scheduled to have music, a raffle and snacks.

Plover Portage Rendezvous Threads of History

The Plover Portage Rendezvous/Threads of History will be held July 17-18, 2010 at Heritage Park. The Rendezvous recreates the life of typical fur trappers and traders during the Fur Trade Era, 1815-1830. The Threads of History lets people see the crafts of that era; candle making, tatting, spinning, wool dying, weaving and many others.

Civil War Encampment

The Encampment is at Pfiffner Pioneer Park along the Wisconsin River just west of downtown Stevens Point. The Civil War Encampment will be held August 28-29, 2010.

Christmas in September Craft Sale

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Craft Sale has been cancelled! We apologize for any inconvenience.

A Craft Sale featuring vendors will be held September 25th at Heritage Park. The craft theme will be Christmas craft items.

Halloween - Victorian Funeral

Halloween 2009 funeralSaurday, October 30, 2010, 12pm – 3pm at Heritage Park, corner of Washington & Willow, Plover (map).

Come and show your respects to the grieving widow while learning some of the etiquette involved in a Victorian Funeral. This popular event is back for its second year. Admission to the funeral will be $1.00.

In the Engford House visit our bake sale. Last year's event was well received and some items were sold out fast, so get there early. Bring the kids for Tricks or Treats around the Park. Candy will be passed out at some historic buildings in Heritage Park.



Rising Star Mill

The Rising Star Mill located in Nelsonville will again hold a variety of art and entertainment events. Their events schedule is located here.
