Internship Summary:

The Portage County Historical Society is offering an education internship for the spring 2023 semester. This internship will be essential in getting PCHS’s educational programs up and running after the COVID-19 pandemic. More than that, this internship will help build a new, comprehensive approach to assisting local teachers with their Wisconsin and Portage County history curriculum, particularly for state and local history taught at the 3rd and 4th grade level.

 

Salary: 10 hours per week at $12.50 per hour

 

Length/Dates: 15 Weeks, Starting January 23, 2023

 

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of educational and teaching materials for PCHS website

  • Revamp internal educational resources for onsite and classroom instruction

  • Work with Executive Director to coordinate with local teachers for curriculum needs

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate student with major or minor in education, history, or museum studies

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to self-manage multiple projects

  • Ability to secure transportation to PCHS’s historic sites

Bookkeeper

PCHS Bookkeeper Job Description

The Portage County Historical Society is seeking a bookkeeper to manage our finances. Your responsibilities will include tracking our organization’s revenue, expenses, and taxes, as well as producing financial reports. You will also be responsible for reconciling our books to ensure our records are correct.

 

Responsibilities

Prepare accounting records by compiling and analyzing account information

Reconcile company's financial records to help ensure accuracy of financial statements 

Prepare tax documentation for businesses and individuals

Post financial transactions to accounts and prepare financial statements

 

Job Qualifications and Skill Sets

Associate degree in accounting, business, or a related field

Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), with advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online; experience with other tax preparation and accounting software

Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Detail-oriented and able to prioritize

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Hours per week: 3 to 5

Salary: $20/hr
